Monthly Favourites: December Edition

KRIZIA

1. Sam Smith
Sam Smith is one of my favourite singers right now and he's playing two sold out shows in Auckland next year and I managed to score two tickets to go see him. I'm super excited for the show, he's someone i've wanted to see live for a while now.

2. Inniu Tracker Boots
I've wanted a pair of Timberlands for ages but never wanted to spend $300+ for them so I went on the hunt for a good pair of knock offs. I found these for $89 at my trusty favourite shop Wildpair. They're great quality, exactly like Timberlands, but less than half the price!

3. GoPro Hero 4 Silver
I was getting really sick of how bulky my DSLR was so I looked into changing my camera. Since I was already interested in a GoPro I thought it was the perfect time to sell the DSLR and go for the Hero 4 Silver. It has the same Mega Pixels as my DSLR did and does basically the same thing but it's less than the size of my hand. I LOVE it! can't wait to use it when i travel, I'm also looking into diving so i can film underwater.

4. Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones
These headphones have been glued to my head for the past few days! I love being in my own world when i'm listening to music so these are amazing for me. I've always wanted Beats but the reviews were never good, and if you're going to spend a lot of money on headphones you're going to want them to do a good job.

5. MAC Pro Longwear Foundation
This was my first MAC purchase ever and for $70 it might be my last BUT i just had to try one of their foundations. I have very oily skin and after reading a few blogs a majority of the bloggers recommended Pro Longwear for oily skin. I was surprised that it really does work, i get a few hours of looking fresh faced rather than getting oily 30 minutes after putting on makeup. It's pricey but i definitely recommend it!

SOPHIE

1. Simpsons Tapped Out
This is currently my most used app (aside from my social media apps of course), there's just something about this game that keeps me coming back and earning money (for the game to complete quests). The basic outline of the game is that Homer has blown up the springfield you know and love however Professor Frink has managed to find a parallel universe and it's up to you to rebuild it.

2. Missguided Boots
These are my favourite pair of shoes at the moment. They're comfortable, stylish and the heel gives a bit of height but not high enough to be uncomfortable if I was to wear them the whole day. They had previously sold out but when I found out they had come back in stock I was quick purchase these and I haven't regretted it at all!

3. Brooklyn Nine Nine
Over the Christmas break i've had a lot of free time on my hands and to help with my procrastination of not working on my dissertation I turned to Netflix and the hit T.V. show Brooklyn Nine Nine. I love this comedy show starring Andy Samberg and Terry Crewes about the 99 Precinct in Brooklyn and the hijinks they get up too.

4. Bleach London Hair Dye
In my 27 years of living I've had many different hair colours but have never felt truly happy until I had pink/lavender hair and then being blonde as a close 2nd. What with uni coming to an end soon and me having to get a real job soon, I thought i'd go back to being blonde, but before that has to happen I thought i'd enjoy having a bit of freedom with colour first. Bleach London is a semi permanent hair dye colourant that I use to achieve these unnatural colours I love.. I may do a blog post in the new year about them.

5. Instax Mini 8
For christmas my boyfriend got me a white Instax Mini 8 and I absolutely LOVE it! I've wanted on for ages and was meant to get one for my birthday but as he was still finding a job he surprised me and got it for me for Christmas. I can't wait to take more pics with it in the new year!

NEW MUSIC ALERT: This Pale Fire "Dusk"

Posted on Tuesday, 23 December 2014

This Pale Fire is the lovechild of the talented New Zealand born Corban Koschak. Residing in Auckland Corban has always had a love of music and with thanks to a few open mic nights and the help of Kyle Wetton and Nick Douch This Pale Fire was born. The EP "Dusk" has been a long process in the making, but like they say good things take time.
This 7 track EP is a great indie/rock record that is enriched with hints of nordic mythology, which can be seen in "The Night" (which is also the EP's first single release) where it pays reference to Fenrir the Wolf God.
The EP overall is refreshing and leaves me wanting more from This Pale Fire, which pains me as they're only still building a fanbase in NZ although I don't see it long before they get recognition and soon will have radio play all over the globe. They've recently just been given funding thanks to NZ Music on Air to create a music video with Cymbol 303 on their collab track "Burst of Colour", which isn't on the EP but if it's anything like the remix track of "Unfamiliar" I'm excited to see what this song will be like!
Personal favourites of mine have to be "The Night", "Silence" & "Siren's Song"

If your living in the Auckland area you should most definitely go and check them out on Facebook to see when they have a gig, if you're like me and not in New Zealand feel free to check out This Pale Fire's Soundcloud or better yet download the EP "Dusk" on Bandcamp! You won't regret it!

MCM: Sam Claflin

Posted on Monday, 22 December 2014

This British babe hasn't been in a lot of movies but we are very thankful to the Hunger Games for bringing him into our lives. You may just know him as Finnick Odair, the 65th winner of the Hunger Games but he's also had roles in Pirates of the Caribbean, Snow White and the Huntsmen, and more recently Love, Rosie. He is sadly off the market (he married a fellow British actress last year) and we're a little jealous she gets to look at that face (and those dimples<333333 ) all the time. We suggest looking up interviews with Sam because we can guarantee you'll end up falling in love with his adorable down to earth self.

OOTD: Work Christmas Dinner

Posted on Friday, 19 December 2014

DRESS: New Look
HEELS: Internacionale
BAG: New Look
RINGS: H&M
NECKLACE: Tiffany's

On Sunday I had my works Christmas Meal which was organised by yours truly (and two other co-workers). Being students who work at the students bar this meal means a lot as it's one of the only nights where everyone isn't working (we have it after term breaks up) and everyone gets dressed up all nice and fancy.
The meal was soooo good! I had chicken and duck ballontine for a starter, braised blade of beef with mustard mash and bailey's cheesecake to finish. Not to mention A LOT of wine! In fact the pics I took of my outfit are pretty much the only pics I took all night haha, what am I like!
Big thanks to my friend Welshie for sorting out my hair!!

Lifestyle: Harry Potter Studio Tour

Posted on Thursday, 18 December 2014

For my sister's Christmas present I thought I'd treat her to the Harry Potter Studio Tour (as we're both massive Potter fans). I'd been before with Krizia (twas a Christmas Present from my boyfriend) and I absolutely loved it! This time though as it's the Christmas season the whole tour was decked out for the joyous season.
This time round I splurged and got us both some audio guides, which provided further insight into the behind the scenes of the movie franchise.
Sister Selfie featuring a photobomb from Snape
Even though I had been before there was still so much more to see and things missed the first time viewing as I had been caught up in the excitement. A few things were missing and had been moved as well, the last time I was there, there was an epic display of all the beautiful graphic designs that featured in the movie (e.g. The Quibbler, tickets, books, posters etc) instead it was replaced with The Deatheaters and Voldemort sitting at the table (re: Deathly Hallows Part 1), however one thing is for certain I was still in awe of all the incredible detail that went in to making these films that meant so much to me and others around the world.
The Butterbeer was as still as delicious as I remembered and this time I upgraded and got a novelty mug. I managed to refrain myself in the gift shop and only purchased peppermint toads, but I could seriously go to town in there if I had the funds (wands, robes, jumpers... the works).
Here are a small selection of the pics I took:

Wishlist Wednesday!

Posted on Wednesday, 17 December 2014

KRIZIA
1. Playstation
I've always been a Playstation person, i've never gotten into XBox and i've been missing having a  Playstation in my life for quite some time. I miss playing Crash Bandicoot!

At the moment it's feeling more like winter than summer down here so a Christmas jumper would be perfect right now. I've seen this design in a few other places (and in different colours) but i do love black! and of course i love the quote from one of my favourite Christmas movies.

Full House reruns have been on TV recently and its brought back a lot of memories from my childhood. This was one of my favourite TV shows in the 90s and i always used to see the DVDs being sold separately per season, but now i've found this amazing boxset and i have to have it!

SOPHIE

1. Water Filtration Bottle
I've been meaning to start drinking more water recently mainly for the health benefits such as better skin, feeling more refreshed, and I think it would help with my IBS problem. Not that i'm not a fan of tap water but there's nothing like fresh filtered water that you get from the grocery store or the local diary (newsagent in the UK). This bottle does just this! All you have to do is put in the filter disc and add some water!

2. Tattoo from Sasha Unisex
My sister linked me to a Buzzfeed article about this uber talented tattoo artist from Russia. Ever since then i've been dying to get a tattoo from her. I love her watercolour, no block line style. A trip to Russia may have to be on the cards to fulfill this wish!

3. Treadmill
For the past year I've really gotten interested in getting fit and healthy, it's a tad hard being a uni student and with my procrastination nature even though I have a gym membership I don't go as much as I'd like (especially now in the colder months). BUT if I had my own treadmill I could run in the comfort of my own home!

What's on your wishlist?

Krizia's Favourite Christmas Movies

Posted on Friday, 12 December 2014

1.Home Alone
Home Alone is one of my favourite Christmas movies and a 90s classic by the legendary John Hughes! Kevin McCallister is accidentally left at home when his family (and extended family who have all gathered at the McCallister home before a trip to Paris) have to rush to the airport after a power cut resets the alarms. While his parents are desperately trying to get home to him from France he is living it up and loving the new independence. However, he soon realizes the house is being targeted by burglars and it's up to him to protect his home all by himself.

2.Home Alone 2: Lost in New York
Home Alone 2 is another Christmas classic and like the first movie the McCallister's have organized another big Christmas family vacation, this time to Florida. They end up sleeping in again and have to rush to the airport but this time they make sure Kevin is definitely with them. At the airport Kevin gets split up from the group as they're running to their gate and follows another man with the same jacket as his dad. The family once again have to find their way back to Kevin while he is having the time of his life-until he runs into some familiar faces.

3.The Santa Clause
I haven't watched the sequels to this, but i love the first film! Scott Calvin is spending some time with his son Charlie on Christmas Eve when they're awoken by noises on the roof. Scott goes to investigate and ends up startling a man who falls off the roof and vanishes, but leaves behind a santa suit, reindeer, and a sleigh. Scott puts on the suit and finishes Santa's work before the reindeer head back to the North Pole where the head elf explains that by putting on the suit and entering the sleigh Scott has agreed to be the new Santa.

4.Look Who's Talking Now I'm not a huge fan of the first two movies (Look Who's Talking, and Look Who's Talking Too) but Look Who's Talking Now is another one of my favourite 90s Christmas movies. After accepting a very hectic job as a pilot James doesn't get to spend a lot of time with his family. He ends up having to work on Christmas Eve where he gets stuck in a snow storm and Mollie, the children, and the dogs have to find him so they can all be together for Christmas. Unlike the first two movies where the children's interior monologues were voiced over, the third movie focuses more on the new family pets who are voiced by Danny Devito and Diana Keaton.

What's your favourite Christmas movie?

Sophie's Favourite Christmas Movies

Posted on Thursday, 11 December 2014

Christmas movies are one of the many things I enjoy about this season!
Over the next two days Krizia and I will share with you some of our fav Christmas Films!

1. Eight Crazy Nights
Eight Crazy Nights is the animated, musical, holiday film centring on Hanukkah and created and starring Adam Sandler. It seems to be a yearly tradition that me and my sister watch this regardless of where we are in the world. It follows the adult life of Davey Stone whom after his parent's death has lead a troubled life, after causing havoc and knocking over Menorah he gets saved from going to jail but Whitey Duvall, a 70 year old man that has one foot bigger then the other. Through the film we get to see Davey grow and tackle his demons.

2. Elf
Elf centres around Buddy played by Will Ferrell who as a baby snuck into Santa's sack and was then raised in the North Pole. Without the corruption of the real world, Buddy has an essence of innocence about him and his naivety leads to many a humorous moments as he travels to NYC to find his real father.

3. Muppets Christmas Carol
This timeless Christmas story has been retold in this Disney film with the help of the loveable Muppets. Kermit and Miss Piggy play Mr and Mrs Cratchit, Michael Caine plays Mr Scrooge and Gonzo plays the narrator Charles Dickens.

4. Love Actually
Love Actually centres around a handful of strangers and their individual stories around Christmas time. With a stellar cast boasting the creme de la creme of British talent in the likes of Colin Firth, Emma Thompson, Liam Neeson, Hugh Grant this movie was always going to be a fan favourite. With lovable characters like Colin the "Sex God" and his plans to move to America for all the American girls, young boy Sam who learns to play the drums so he can impress the girl he's in love with and Hugh Grant playing the Prime Minister and dancing around 10 Downing Street.

Honourable Mentions
The Santa Clause (Check back tomorrow for Krizia's post)
Home Alone 1 & 2 (Check back tomorrow for Krizia's post)

What are some of your fav Christmas films?

WCW: Jennifer Lawrence

Posted on Wednesday, 10 December 2014

LGC have picked the amazing, talented, and beautiful Jennifer Lawrence aka Katniss Everdeen for our WCW this week.
We love everything about this gal! and we really love how down to earth she seems.
Even when she's tripping over in front of the world at big award ceremonies she still manages to look like a Disney princess.
Her award season style is to die for-actually, her style's always on point!
She has an awesome body and we love that she accepts it as it is, even though the industry that she's in puts a lot of pressure on women's looks and their weight.

JLaw is definitely someone who would easily get along with us and our humor and we'd happily have her as part of LGC!

OOTD: Friday Night Drinks

Posted on Tuesday, 9 December 2014

Blazer: River Island
Top: H&M
Necklace: H&M
Leggings: Topshop
Boots: Missguided

Being a third year uni student, all I ever seem to be doing is sleep, go to the library, work, if I have enough time eat and repeat. Naturally doing this constantly can get a bit frustrating so it's good to let your hair down for a night.  My friend Jess and I were feeling a bit blah one Friday night so we thought F*CK IT! Lets go out! We didn't want to do anything to wild like going to the student club night "The Eskimo Project" in Portsmouth, so we settled on Albert Road which has some really nice bars and pubs.
For the occasion I felt like dressing up a bit but still having the semi casual vibe, so I teamed my maroon crop top from H&M (found in the basics section) with my new Topshop leggings to add a bit of a statement I wore my white blazer from River Island I had gotten in the sale the previous summer. To top it all off I wore my newly acquired boots from Missguided (they had sold out but had come back in stock YAY) and a plain silver necklace from H&M. Makeup wise I had a nude brown lipstick from Seventeen in Fond Farewell (see my Top 4 Fav Dark Lipsticks) and my classic winged eyeliner with various shades of natural coloured (Browns and Golds) eyeshadow from my MUA Palette.

TV: Dummies Guide to The O.C.

Posted on Thursday, 4 December 2014

The O.C. was the "it" show of the noughties and it was THE staple show in most teenagers lives growing up around this time. We here at LGC were transfixed with the lives of Ryan Atwood, Seth Cohen, Marissa Cooper and Summer Roberts.

The O.C. created by Josh Schwartz is about a young troubled high school boy Ryan Atwood (played by Benjamin McKenzie) from Chino, California, who gets sent to juvie but gets taken in by all round nice guy Sandy Cohen (played by Peter Gallagher) and his wife Kirsten (played by Kelly Rowan) and son Seth (played by Adam Brody). From here Ryan sees how the other half live in Newport California where he meets the girl next door Marissa Cooper and where we got this very rememberable line...
The show tackles a wide range of storylines from addictions, deaths and just trying to fit in. It spanned across four seasons before it got cancelled mid season in 2007.
The O.C. may not be on anymore but who could forget the epic theme song, Sandy's epic eyebrows, Marissa's hilarious yet meant to be serious freak out, basically any scene that has Seth Cohen in it because at one point or another we all have a bit of Seth Cohen in us and who could forget Rosa the maid (I know the Cohen's sure did haha)

If for some unfortunate reason you weren't watching this incredible teen drama go lock yourself into a room and binge watch this! You won't regret it!

KRIZIA

As i love to travel this would be the best travel accessory for me. Although it's a bit small it's small enough to use as carry on luggage which is great because if you have a really tight flight connection you can just hop on this bad boy and get to your gate in half the time. I've seen plain scooter suitcases before but i love this one because of all the detail on the front.
I first got introduced to Sriracha while i was living in London and have been addicted ever since. I'm not much of a fan of hot sauce but there was just something about this one that got me hooked. Carrying around a bottle in my bag might be a little weird so these Sriracha 2 go bottles are perfect for every day use!
I would love to own this Alexander Wang bag one day! i've been in love with it for years because i love my black bags and gold studs but i just cannot pay hundreds of dollars for the real deal. Luckily i found a knock off in Camden Markets while i was living in London so for now i can just pretend like i own one!

SOPHIE

There's something about the Burberry coats that i've always loved. Maybe it's because they look so soft and comfortable, or the hint of tartan that pokes out, or the fact it's an ultra luxe label.. But i've always dreamed of having one. I found this style when I typed in Burberry Coats but it appears to not be available to purchase anymore, however I stumbled across a lovely all black coat with python textured sleeves, and of course the classic old faithful, sand coloured jacket (with a wool cashmere undercollar YES PLEZ!). Either one will do!

I've been contemplating getting one of these for a while now. It would make blogging so much easier on the go, as I wouldn't have to lug my macbook around with me when I go to uni or work. It would also be a good way to quickly write down notes for uni (even though i'm in my last year) and would be a good travel companion so I can still keep in touch, but not be limited to a small iPhone screen.

3. Vivienne Westwood Necklace
Like the Burberry Coat I've always wanted a Vivienne Westwood Necklace. To me the orb necklaces reminds me of a cool funky planet and as a lover of space I feel like I must own this. Either one of these will do quite nicely! They now come in Gold, Silver, Rose Gold and a type of Gunmetal Silver.

Review/OOTD: Our House Festival

Posted on Tuesday, 2 December 2014

Shirt: burnout Alexander Wang
Trousers: fake leather from Temt
Bum bag: Ebay (heaps to choose from!)
Shoes: London Rebel from ASOS

Last Friday night Our House Festival hit New Zealand. Every year DJs like Calvin Harris, David Guetta, and Zedd perform and this year it was Steve Aoki and Skrillex who headlined.
For the event i definitely did not want to wear heels or a dress but i still wanted to keep things light as i knew there would be a lot of sweaty bodies and a lot of dancing was going to go down.
I settled on all black everything because you can never go wrong with an all black outfit.
Lipstick is shade 20 from the Kate Moss Rimmel London range and choker is also from ASOS.

What So Not and MK were also on the lineup but i only showed up in time to see the two headliners.
The legendary Steve Aoki was the first headliner up and he made sure that we didn't miss out on the whole Aoki experience so there were cakes, an inflatable boat, and champagne! Steve Aoki played all his big hits from Phat Bram, Freak, Boneless with an awesome intro from Simon Says by Pharoahe Monch, Free The Madness, Rage The Night Away, and he ended his set with crowd pleaser Pursuit of Happiness. He definitely knows how to get the crowd super pumped and ready for more madness throughout the night.
Skrillex opened his set with his track My Name Is Skrillex, it took a few minutes for me to get into the set because it was so loud i couldn't hear anything from the ringing in my ears but eventually i got into it. Skrillex was a lot more heavy than Steve Aoki, or as my friend put it a lot more 'dirty' but he was just as good and as fans of his from his days prior to being a DJ and fronting From First to Last to now he knows to work a crowd and did not disappoint. Following his opener Skrillex played First of the Year (Equinox), Bangarang, Wild For the Night, Promises, Summer, Rock N' Roll, and Cinema to name a few.

As a massive EDM fan i'm so happy EDM is getting bigger here. Now there's a new summer dance festival hitting Auckland called Summer Sound System where Avicii, Martin Garrix, and Afrojack are going to play next year. Haven't seen Martin Garrix yet but i've been dying to for awhile and i can't wait to see the other two again on home soil!

Monthly Favourites: November Edition

Posted on Thursday, 27 November 2014

KRIZIA
1. & 2. Black Docs and Sequin Stance Socks
After my black rubber Docs split i didn't know if I wanted a classic leather pair again because I didn't take good care of my other leather ones. I caved in though once I saw them at work, but it's a shame they don't look nice and smooth like they do in the photo anymore. I LOVE these sequin Stance socks! It was a toss up between these silver ones and black ones but I just loved the way the silver pair sparkled under light.

3. Interstellar
I'm obsessed with anything to do with space so once I found out Christopher Nolan (the man behind some of my favourite movies: the Batman trilogy and Inception) directed this movie I had to watch it, and just like Inception I was left with a million questions and a very sore head. If you haven't watched it yet I definitely recommend it, but be prepared with lots of snacks and maybe bring a cushion because you're going to be sitting down for three hours.

4. Giant Mugs
I love a nice giant mug even though I can barely finish my tea 90% of the time. I randomly stumbled upon this amazing mug a few weeks ago in a gift shop and I had to have it because it combines my two favourite things, Dinosaurs/Jurassic Park and tea!

5. Rimmel London Kate Moss Lipstick
I've been trying to find a good pink lipstick that suits my skin colour for a long time. I was looking around a makeup outlet store when i came across the Kate Moss range. I couldn't decide which pink to take so because they were half price I picked the 106, a dark pink and 20, a lighter pink. It's taken me a while to get used to the 20 because I never wear light coloured lipsticks but i'm warming up to it!

SOPHIE

1. Carebear Pyjama's
I came across these in Primark and just had to get them! I'm really loving the jogger/legging style pyjama bottoms at the mo. The top is super comfy and keeps me hella warm that sometimes I wish I could wear it everywhere!

2. One Direction "Four"
My love for this band continues to grow, I couldn't wait to hear their new album when 'Fireproof' was released and they did not disappoint! I can't stop playing the album and boogeying along to it in my head when I'm walking down the street. Absolutely loving their new style!!!

3. My Birthday
It can't be a monthly favourites without mentioning my birthday! I love my birthday because it's the only day of the year I can truly justify that the day is all about me. I had a blast bringing in my 27th year with my boyfriend and a few close friends. Although I fear as I'm getting older the hangovers are getting worse haha.

4. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1
I've been waiting all year for this film and it finally came. The movie was beyond spectacular and I could have easily sat there for another 3 hrs watching the second part. Since Harry Potter finished Hunger Games has filled this spot. I'm a big fan of the books and was happy they kept to the storyline, but the small things they did add helped make the film what it is.

5. Gig Tickets
This month as been a gig buying frenzy! So many great artists have announced their going on tour. This month I've managed to get tickets for Charli XCX, Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran. Next year is shaping up to be a pretty music filled year!

WCW: Natalie Dormer

Posted on Wednesday, 26 November 2014

After recently seeing her portray Cressida in Mockingjay we had to give Natalie Dormer our WCW spot this week. We love that she had no problem shaving the side of her long hair off for the role and it's a look that she pulls off flawlessly (we don't think we could make it as actresses if it meant dramatically changing our hair!). Our love for Nat didn't start here though, as massive Game Of Thrones fans we love her in her role as the sexy innocent (but not really innocent) Margaery Tyrell. Although that's not her first major role in the business we think it's definitely one that's made the entertainment industry adore her.
Natalie Dormer seems like such a fun, smart, badass woman and we wish she was our friend!

PSA: Jurassic World Teaser Trailer is OUT NOW

Posted on Tuesday, 25 November 2014

It pleases us greatly that we officially have a trailer (albeit a teaser but a trailer nonetheless) for Jurassic World.
LGC are MAJOR Jurassic Park fans and when we heard they were making another one we were over the moon. After many delays work finally got underway and we started getting a picture of what to expect.

Set many many years after the 3rd film we see that there is a fully functioning Jurassic World (re: Jurassic Park) on Isla Nublar.
The main dinosaur that soon terrorises the park is still a mystery, however we do know that it's a man-made dinosaur. Chris Pratt's character is quick to point out that you can't play god (which seems to have been a similar theme in the first film)

Either way we can't wait for 12 June 2015!!!
Maybe if we make a plea to Steven Spielberg he'll release it early?

What are your thoughts on the new Jurassic World trailer?

PSA: One Direction- Night Changes Official Music Video

Yesterday saw One Direction release their official music video for their second single 'Night Changes'.
We here at LGC HQ are in love with it, to the point that Sophie has it on repeat.
This has fast become (well more like instantly) one of our favourite 1D videos and we love the concept of the video.
'Night Changes' sees Harry, Niall, Louis, Liam and Zayn take the viewer on a series of "dates", which just had us all go mush in the knees and giggle like little school girls. However the "dates" don't have a happy ending where something eventually goes wrong at the end of the date (although we don't imagine Zayn not throwing a couple of punches or sticking up for his date to the guy who interrupts them) regardless we would be happy to have a date with Harry (for Sophie) or Niall (for Krizia)!

What are your thoughts on 1D's new video and which date would you love to be on?

OOTD: Black and White

Posted on Friday, 21 November 2014

Top: Miss Selfridge
Choker: ASOS
Jeans: ASOS
Boots: ASOS

A couple of weeks ago a few of my friends thought we should all go out for drinks, nothing to fancy so I thought I'd keep my look casual but still a bit dressy. For our anniversary my boyfriend bought me this lovely white quilted texture top with beading detail, which I thought would be perfect for the occasion. I teamed that with my fav pair of jeans at the moment, my black Asos jeans with rips in the knees (sooooo comfy) and my ever so faithful ASOS Airplane Chelsea Ankle Boots. To add a bit of edge to the outfit I wore my choker necklace with cross charm to give it a more 90's feel.

Review: The Hunger Games-Mockingjay Part 1

Posted on Thursday, 20 November 2014

Sometimes living in the southern hemisphere has its perks. Because we're ahead of the rest of the world when it comes to big movies like The Hunger Games series little old New Zealand gets the first look! I have just finished watching Mockingjay in the cinema and WOW!
Look away now if you don't want to be spoiled!

Mockingjay isn't my personal favourite of the trilogy. As I was rereading the book I forgot how slow it was, especially part 1, but the movie was so brilliantly done and without anything major being left out that the two hours just flew by. Some people didn't understand the reason behind splitting the short book into a two part finale but it was necessary in order to keep things flowing at a good pace. If you haven't read the book i'm sorry to inform you that there is no actual Hunger Games in part three of the trilogy, but it is still darker and more emotional than the two before it.

As the story builds up to the climax in part 2 most of it is based underground in district 13 (thought to be destroyed by the capitol during the first rebellion), if we're not in district 13 we're watching Katniss explore what is left of the districts in the outside world of Panem which is facing a revolution. Almost all of the movie is exactly or close to what is in the book so fans will not be disappointed! One little thing that wasn't included (that didn't need to be in the movie but would've been nice to see) is Katniss finding her prep team locked away in district 13. There are also new scenes which are in my opinion some of the best scenes in the movie and enhance the story so well. We get a brief look at district 7 (who provide lumber) and how they fight back against the peacekeepers in two VERY epic scenes, one that also crosses over with Katniss' song 'The Hanging Tree' which will give you goosebumps!

The film ends in a similar way to Catching Fire but about three chapters into part 2 of the novel and I have to say, Josh Hutcherson does an incredible job at portraying hijacked Peeta! in fact, all of the cast both old and new do an amazing job at portraying their characters.

Who else can't wait another year for part 2?

Wishlist Wednesday!

Posted on Wednesday, 19 November 2014

KRIZIA
To be honest you could probably make your own fake tampon flasks at home. I'm in need of a flask and in the past used a few creative ways to smuggle alcohol somewhere. I've never thought of using tampons as a disguise and thought this was brilliant! and they come with wrappers too, and look like they're easily able to be reused.
I'm a huge Pendulum fan so of course i love Knife Party too. I've seen Knife Party before while i was traveling so i didn't have my close friends there to enjoy the show with me. The duo announced an NZ show just before Christmas so i'm hoping to round everyone up for the show.
These Y.R.U sandals are my dream shoes i've fallen in love with! They are very pricey and unfortunately sold out at the moment, i'm not too sure if they'll even be restocked but i'm keeping my fingers crossed! If you're into big, unique, shoes Y.R.U is the place to shop, it will make a bit of a dent in your wallet though!

SOPHIE
These have been out awhile and I've been meaning to get my hands on a pair. I'm a massive Star Wars fan, and absolutely love this old school movie poster design.

I have wanted a pair of Dr Martens for agggeeeeeesssss! I love the maroon ones or the black ones. We have a Dr Martens outlet store in Portsmouth so I may have to go in and have a proper look one day and see if I can find a pair I like!

I almost had a Marc Jacobs Watch for my birthday last year. I bought one off a reputable seller from Ebay but it never made it to my house. The courier company claimed they had delivered it but they never did. Thankfully I got a refund but the urge to have one of these pretty things hanging from my wrist is still there. If I hadn't bought a car as part of my b'day present from my dad I probably would have gotten one of these watches.

What's on your Wishlist Wednesday this week?

Review: One Direction-Four (Deluxe Edition)

Posted on Tuesday, 18 November 2014

LGC have been looking forward to this album's release since 'Fireproof' was given out as a free single! Four is very different to anything One Direction have done before and it really works for the boys who are entering a new stage in their musical lives! Four is more Indie-Pop than pure Pop and we ain't complaining, this is the best sound for them and definitely their best album to date. We're hoping this album will finally put the naysayers to rest and see these boys as more than just X Factor by-products. However we were a little disappointed with the deluxe tracks, compared to the rest of the album they're quite average. We've read that the boys all contributed to the song 'Change Your Ticket' but the rest were written for them (aside from Liam having a writing credit on 'Illusion'), which we found odd as we thought the boys would want to further showcase their talent seeing as the standard album was so brilliant!

Overall we give Four a solid 4 out of 5!

Read our track by track breakdown of our album to find out what we thought of each song...

NZ Summer Fashion: Dresses

Posted on Friday, 14 November 2014

It's definitely not summer for all of you in the Northern Hemisphere and right now it definitely doesn't feel like it's about to be summer down here in the Southern Hemisphere, but don't let the cold put you off shopping for summer!
Krizia's picked out some of her favourite dresses for the best summer look.

The Festival Dress from For Love and Lemons is the priciest item at around $200+ NZD (which can also be purchased from various other sites and in slightly different designs, Nasty Gal juuuust sold out of their stock which was cut down to half price *tear* ) but it is the best festival look, and festivals are one of our favourite things that we look forward to in summer! Pair it with gladiator sandals and you're good to go.
LGC think a black maxi is a must have for any girl for summer. The Baroness Maxi is one that we would wear because we're fans of the V cut and the unique detail in the stomach area, not showing a lot of skin but just enough. Like the model in the photo we would also wear our maxi's with a nice black hat!
The sunflower dress is a personal favourite for Krizia because she owns the exact one and absolutely loves it! The dress is super light which is great for the long hot summer days and it has an open back that laces up. The design is also on shorts, trousers, skirts, and other dress styles if this babydoll one isn't your look.
The mesh/baseball look is very in right now as are shirt dresses! Sometimes you might find shirt dresses to be a tad too short for your liking which is ok because throw on a pair of lace cycle shorts (which also look great under denim shorts!) and you won't have to worry about accidentally flashing anyone your bum!

What's your favourite summer dress?

UK Winter Fashion: Coats

Posted on Thursday, 13 November 2014

Winter is fast approaching in the UK and as such it is essential to have a decent winter coat. Sophie here has picked out four winter jacket options available in the high street stores.
Everyone loves a good parka and the Topshop Borg Lined Padded Parka ticks the box. Not too long but not to short it looks to be the perfect length and being padded you know it will keep you warm, the burgundy red colour will also brighten and warm up your look and makes a nice change from the greens and blacks.
The River Island Faux Fur Woven Biker Coat is a twist on the biker jacket. Keeping that leather look feel in the sleeves and having a woven body gives you that edgy twist. Everyone loves a bit of a fur collar as well and is a big trend every winter.
We've put New Looks Cream Borg Jacket in to mix it up. We here at LGC LOVE  our black and dark colours, so for this feature I thought I'd try different colours and what's the extreme of black? White! (or Cream in this case). This Jacket seems like it would be the perfect coat to get snuggly in and we have a feeling it feels like pure heaven!
Last but not least is H&M's Fake Fur Jacket that Sophie fell in love with when she walked past it in the store. Only downside to this jacket is that the leather sleeves make it a bit restrictive when on but other that it's a beaut!

All these jackets are a bit pricey we do admit, but when it comes to keeping warm in winter you want to make sure you're buying from shops that are known to produce well made products. However if money is tight (as it is with Sophie- being a student and all) she finds ebay to be her saving grace. We would put a link a few options but there is literally hundreds you can choose from.

What coat will you be investing in this coming winter?
