X Factor: Live Show 3
Posted on Monday, 27 October 2014
There were a few shockers over the weekend, both good and bad! but overall it was an improvement from the average 80's weekend last week!
Read more about the performances and who left the show below!
OVERS:
Another typical song choice for Stevi this week with 'Footloose' but he sure knows how to have fun on stage and enjoy his moment, which is what we think a few other contestants should learn to do. Louis was a wee bit harsh on the poor guy telling him it was time to go home, leave Stevi alone! (although we kinda agree but we wouldn't be that blunt).
'Lady Marmalade' was a perfect song choice for Fleur to show off her moves, vocals, and rapping. We loved her rap and stage presence but felt like sometimes her vocals were struggling at some points. Overall we really enjoyed her performance and she's quickly becoming one of our favourites to watch!
Like a few other contestants Ben made a last minute song change and we think ' Don't Want To Miss a Thing' was a great choice to show of his vocals. However, we have to agree with Simon and Mel's comments this week, the song wasn't good to show a different side to him and he really lacked passion and emotion while he was singing this Aerosmith classic. But this is one of Krizia's favourite songs from one of her favourite movies so she couldn't hate it.
We definitely weren't feeling Jay's performance of 'Skyfall' at first but towards the end it got better. We think this was probably his worst performance to date, we're so disappointed!
GIRLS:
Despite a little struggle towards the end, vocally this was another great performance from Lola but we are so bored of seeing her standing on stage and belting out a song. We think she could definitely work the stage more now that's she got a lot more confidence!
As much as LGC adore Frozen and 'Let it Go' this was our least favourite performance from Lauren so far which is tough to say because she has been flawless since day 1. The soft build up to the chorus was a tad off and shakey but luckily she saved the best till last and ended up wowing us with her amazing vocals.
BOYS:
Jake was first up on saturday night and wow, we don't know how it went all wrong for him. If you look back at his auditions and compare them to live shows he's almost a different person. We're not sure if it's the pressure of performing live or if it's just picking the wrong songs, but he was a boring opener who couldn't reach his high notes.
Picking 'Listen' by Beyonce was a fantastic choice to show off Andrea's killer vocals and he killed it once again this week. That ending was epic and it was nice to see him come back even stronger after receiving his first negative feedback last week.
We were a little unsure of how Jack was going to put his spin on 'Eye of the Tiger' and make it work but we really enjoyed it! His vocals were great and we're not sure why the judges weren't feeling it this week. We agree with Cheryl that we would love to see him move around a bit more but we definitely don't think he looked uncomfortable up there!
This week we think Paul really came out of his shell, vocally he's amazing but he still has some confidence issues. We loved that he was moving around and had dancers on stage with him but we still feel like he's holding back. We think he'll get there in the end though, baby steps!
GROUPS:
After being in the bottom 2 last week and facing harsh comments from their own mentor (Louis, you really need to think before you speak!) the boys decided to take things into their own hands and wow! They came back fighting and it was an amazing improvement! Singing a medley of 'Let it Be' and 'Hey Jude' the boys started out with an acoustic version of 'Let it Be' where we heard them ALL sing! Their solos and duets were on point and we loved their arrangement on stage! They then went on to a more upbeat and harmonized 'Hey Jude' and it was a perfect ending to their performance earning them a standing ovation from 3/4 judges. We loved the new Stereo Kicks!
It was nice to see the group pick a current song to perform this week but it wasn't nice to hear them butcher 'Boom Clap'. We're not sure if having more time to rehearse would've saved this performance but maybe the nerves of a last minute song change hit them because this was vocally their weakest performance...and super cheesy as always!
ELIMINATED
In the sing off last night was Jake and Only The Young. Although they weren't our favourite of the night we weren't expecting Only The Young to be in the bottom 2 but we knew they would be safe before either act sang for survival. Watching Jake was like watching Chloe Jasmine's mess of a performance last week but Only The Young weren't any good either! We're not sure whose idea it was to pick an Abba song but it was awful, sorry boys but you should let the girls do the solos, well one girl in particular. Jake's a very lovable guy and he can sing so we're sure it's not the last time we'll see him!
What did you think of the results?
