SATURDAY
Andrea
The first song Andrea sang in the first half of the final was the classic "Feeling Good" by Nina Simone, this was the perfect song and yet another flawless performance from the very dapper Andrea. Up next was the duet. Ella Henderson was chosen to perform with Andrea which is a first for an ex X Factor contestant to be asked to do-and she didn't even get to the final in 2012! (she left in a shock exit in 5th place). Together they performed her hit single Ghost and we loved it! Krizia wasn't too sure if she liked the idea of the two singing together at first, but this performance helped to prove that Andrea can sing current songs well and that there would be a market for him if he won.
Fleur
Up first for Fleur was the Macklemore x Ryan Lewis hit Can’t Hold Us. Sophie was really looking forward to her first song but was left a bit disappointed with this performance and it was her least favourite of the night. Krizia however loved the start with the rapping and the production! BUT the build up in the song didn't actually lead to a big climax so she was left feeling disappointed in the end too. Fleur's duet with Labrinth saved her and together they sang Beneath Your Beautiful . It was really nice to see her do something real simple and beautiful.
Ben
First song up for Ben was Demons by Imagine Dragons. We thought this was vocally a great song choice and it was nice seeing him sing something current. Although we did notice he seemed a bit shaky in some parts. But how awesome was it when he smashed out of the glass box? It was Krizia's favourite solo performance of the night. Ben's duet was with the incredible Ed Sheeran singing Thinking Out Loud which Ben had sung just the other week. PERFECT SONG AND THE PERFECT DUET PARTNER! We literally can't fault it and it was definitely the tipping moment which helped cement Ben's place in the final.
SUNDAY
Sadly, our favourite Italian Pug lover Andrea was sent home on saturday night which meant the two overs were fighting for the number 1 spot. After the final group performance with this years top 16 (and one slightly odd moment of sisterly love between Blonde Electra) the top 2 sang their best songs from the competition. Fleur obviously picked Uptown Funk, which got her a number 1 on ITunes and pushed the official release forward because of the success. We didn't know how she could possibly make the performance any better but she did! Ben chose Man In the Mirror, and we loved it! He's had a few good performances over the past few weeks but none that really stood out as much as some of Fleurs. Krizia had a feeling a boy was going to walk away as the winner this year but seeing Fleur changed that, and Sophie thought there was good chance that Ben could win.
WINNER!
After 10 million votes Ben was crowned the winner of X Factor 2014. The winners single is 'Something I Need' by One Republic which is waaaay better suited to Ben's voice. Fleur's version of the song just felt like it was missing something that Ben's had. Even though she came in second place Fleur is definitely going to have a bright future ahead of her, and we can't wait to see what Ben releases. The official voting percentages show that he's been the winner every week since week 4 of the competition so he's got quite a following already it seems!
