Review/OOTD: Our House Festival
Posted on Tuesday, 2 December 2014
Shirt: burnout Alexander Wang
Trousers: fake leather from Temt
Bum bag: Ebay (heaps to choose from!)
Shoes: London Rebel from ASOS
Last Friday night Our House Festival hit New Zealand. Every year DJs like Calvin Harris, David Guetta, and Zedd perform and this year it was Steve Aoki and Skrillex who headlined.
For the event i definitely did not want to wear heels or a dress but i still wanted to keep things light as i knew there would be a lot of sweaty bodies and a lot of dancing was going to go down.
I settled on all black everything because you can never go wrong with an all black outfit.
Lipstick is shade 20 from the Kate Moss Rimmel London range and choker is also from ASOS.
What So Not and MK were also on the lineup but i only showed up in time to see the two headliners.
The legendary Steve Aoki was the first headliner up and he made sure that we didn't miss out on the whole Aoki experience so there were cakes, an inflatable boat, and champagne! Steve Aoki played all his big hits from Phat Bram, Freak, Boneless with an awesome intro from Simon Says by Pharoahe Monch, Free The Madness, Rage The Night Away, and he ended his set with crowd pleaser Pursuit of Happiness. He definitely knows how to get the crowd super pumped and ready for more madness throughout the night.
Skrillex opened his set with his track My Name Is Skrillex, it took a few minutes for me to get into the set because it was so loud i couldn't hear anything from the ringing in my ears but eventually i got into it. Skrillex was a lot more heavy than Steve Aoki, or as my friend put it a lot more 'dirty' but he was just as good and as fans of his from his days prior to being a DJ and fronting From First to Last to now he knows to work a crowd and did not disappoint. Following his opener Skrillex played First of the Year (Equinox), Bangarang, Wild For the Night, Promises, Summer, Rock N' Roll, and Cinema to name a few.
As a massive EDM fan i'm so happy EDM is getting bigger here. Now there's a new summer dance festival hitting Auckland called Summer Sound System where Avicii, Martin Garrix, and Afrojack are going to play next year. Haven't seen Martin Garrix yet but i've been dying to for awhile and i can't wait to see the other two again on home soil!
