Posted on Tuesday, 5 May 2015
For those of you who are unaware of what the Met Gala (or Met Ball) is, it is an annual fundraising event for the benefit of Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York and marks the annual fashion exhibition.
This year's theme was 'China: Through the Looking Glass' there were plenty of misses in the dress department with some designers and the wearers taking the theme quite literally... (looking at you Sarah Jessica Parker and Chloe Sevigny)
Here we show you our top fav dresses (and suits- can't be leaving the fellas out)
Above we have Amal Clooney in John Gallino (love the leather style bodice), Jennifer Lawrence is stunning in a Dior Haute Coutre dress (we love the floral detail with a classic black bottom half, Helen Mirren is showing us that this isn't just a young person's game in this stunning cut out Dolce & Gabbana dress & Kate Hudson is beautiful in a custom made Michael Kors gold, stretch tuelle open-back gown.

Alicia Keys went for a co-ord piece consisting of a tuelle sheer skirt and navy bralet, with a navy blazer of what appears to be the same fabric as the bralet, designed by the ever so talented Jean Paul Gaultier, Lorde was representing us Kiwi's in a beautiful navy blue, backless, Calvin Klein dress, Kendall Jenner was looking amazing in this beautiful jade green Calvin Klein collection dress & Miranda Kerr shook things up in a custom made Louis Vuitton mini dress with matching custom clutch.
Kerri Russell in a green feathered Alutzarra (which has us reminding us of slightly of Miley's outfit in 'Can't Be Tamed'), Diana Agron looked stunning in a Tory Burch one shoulder silk chiffon gown with red and white cranes embrodied Zoe Kravitz is a stand-out in a chain mail type dress designed by Alexander Wang for Balenciaga, Zendaya is showing her style queen chops in this beautiful Fausto Puglisi gown with a plunging bodice and an asymmetric skirt which has been hand embrodied with sun motifs.

FKA Twigs & Robert Pattinson looked every bit the edgy couple- her in a Christopher Kane dress (complete with penis stitching) that seemed it should be hanging in a gallery rather than be a dress and him in a classic black suit, Eddie Redmayne & Hannah Bagshaw were the picture of monochrome heaven! Both wearing Valentino these newlyweds know now to scrub up nice! Gabrielle Union & Dwayne Wade looked like a pair of royalty, with Gabrielle's simplistic plum/purple Zac Posen dress and Dwayne in a Versace tux and custom made red sash by Versace as well, Sofia Vergara & Joe Maganiello looked like a fairytale story (and it's no wonder as they've just announced their engagement)- her in a beautiful chiffon Marchesa dress and him rocking and bamf-ing out a Ermenegildo Zegna.
