Travel Tuesday: Dublin
Posted on Tuesday, 17 March 2015
In honour of St. Patricks day we thought this weeks Travel Tuesday could highlight one of Ireland's popular cities!
I've always wanted to go to Dublin, but haven't quite managed to make it over there yet. Maybe later this year after I graduate uni and have a bit more time on my hands!
If you get a chance to go however make sure you check out these attractions:
- No trip to Dublin would be complete if you didn't go to the Guinness Storehouse with the ultimate Guinness tasting experience and 360 degree views you'd be crazy not too!You even get a pint of Guinness which is included in the ticket price!
- Phoenix Park is a popular place to go and is an urban park located 2-4km west of the city centre. Inside you can find the Dublin Zoo, the Papal Cross and many different monuments like the Wellington Monument.
- Kilmainham Gaol is a former prison turned Museum and held many Irish revolutionaries who were later executed by the British and the Irish Free State.
- National Musuem of Ireland- Archaeolgy features displays on prehistoric Ireland and seasonal displays from around the world such as Egypt, Cyprus and the Roman world.
- Feel free to check out Dublin Castle which was the powerhouse of Ireland, Trinity College Library which is the largest library in Ireland and St Patrick's Cathedral which is the largest church in Ireland to further get a feel for the rich history in this city.
- The National History Museum and Botanical Gardens are always a fan favourite of mine, the National Botanic Gardens especially would be a lovely attraction to do in the summer.
- If you can feel free to grab a ticket to a game in Croke Park.
- Check out St. Michan's vaults with it's mummified corpses and then after take a wander down to the Jameson's Distillery.
I'm sure there's loads more you can do in this wonderful Irish city and I can't wait to experience it for myself! Love to hear your recommendations if you've ever been to this city!
Happy St. Patricks Day!
