KRIZIA
1. Sunflower Vans
The second i saw these shoes i knew i had to add them to my Vans collection. I can't get enough of the sunflower print, and although these are more of a summer type of shoe, i love wearing them during these colder months to brighten up the day.

2. Wild Pair Haul
One of my favourite clothing stores to shop at is Wild Pair, i buy 95% of my shoes there and i usually end up buying something whenever i stop by. Recently they had a massive warehouse sale where i only spent $100, saving myself about $500, on a pair of Windsor Smith chunky heels that i've been dying to get for a while, a leather skirt, a blue and black tartan sheer blouse, sleeveless blue and black tartan maxi dress, sheer flower print blouse, and a sunflower print playsuit. Warehouse sales are so good, definitely keep your eyes peeled for any around your area!

3. Inside Amy Schumer
The very first time i stumbled across Inside Amy Schumer was last year when i caught the season 2 finale on the Comedy Channel. It wasn't actually Amy who i saw first, but Bridget Everett singing 'What I Gotta Do' and i'm pretty sure i cried from laughing so much. I've been catching up on season 1 and 2 before i settle in to season 3 and i can't get enough of Amy.

4. The Walking Dead
I have Sophie to blame/thank for getting me back into The Walking Dead. I gave up on the show way back in episode 3 of the first season and hadn't gone back..until 2 weeks ago when i binge watched 5 seasons in a week, thanks Netflix, and now i own all four seasons on DVD ha! As a horror fan, i can't believe i let myself give up on it when it's a show that has zombies and lots of blood.

5. Growing Out Eyebrows
One of the best decisions i made back in march was to attempt to grow out my eyebrows. This of course means no, or very limited plucking. As someone who's guilty of over plucking this was super hard, because all i wanted to do was pluck. I have sparse brows to begin with so i didn't know if i would even get much growth and over plucking didn't help, but now i am finally seeing a difference and i actually have ends to my brows now. I wasn't blessed with amazing thick brows but at least now i don't have to be self conscious about them when i don't have time to fill them in!

1. Finishing Uni/Assignments
May 7th saw me hand in my last ever piece of work for university, and it was probably my most stressful assignment to date! A 24hr exam where 2x 1,500 word essays on Games Research had to be written with full Harvard APA referencing... I'll admit right now I did have a slight breakdown at 11am the morning of the hand in as my mind had pulled a complete blank on what it was meant to do. It was a surreal feeling uploading the work.. I kinda wished that, that wasn't the last piece of work as I felt far too stressed and tired to appreciate it.

2. Nick Jonas
As a Jonas Brothers fan, I'm happy to see Nick back on the music scene. I literally can't get enough of his song Jealous (especially the remix with Tinashe- see tomorrow's Monthly Playlist), and Sage the Gemini has released a song featuring him which has been on my playlist a lot as well! (Which again check out the playlist tomorrow to hear it), plus Nick has blossomed into a seriously good looking young man... (dem muscles ples).

3. Juice Plus Shakes
Over Easter break I enquired to a friend/work colleague about Juice Plus which is like protein/shake diet/lifestyle change, she's been promoting. As someone who would like to lose weight I was curious about it and so I thought i'd check it out. I've been on it for a month and I have to say i'm noticing a slight difference. I haven't had the chance to exercise as much as I wanted to as I've been dealing with some personal issues but as a non breakfast eater anyway the shakes a perfect for me as they're simple to make and easy to drink.

4. Sleeping
After having an intense start to the last term, with handing my dissertation in, then having a 2,000 word essay due and then a 24hr exam all in the same of two weeks, my sleep was very deprived. So it's been nice getting to sleep in on the days i'm not working. It's also just been great to have those really lazy duvet days haha.

5. Tattoos
The month of may saw the start of my half sleeve tattoo. I've had two session so far (one for the outline and one for the first part of colouring) and I couldn't be happier with it. Once it's all done i may do a post on tattoos or maybe a video?
If any of our readers are from the UK or London more specifically check out Inksmiths of London! That's where I get tattooed and you couldn't ask for a lovelier bunch of people. (My tattoo artist is Christine Davey)

Monthly Playlist: April Edition

Posted on Thursday, 30 April 2015

Starting my playlist this month is 'Satisfy' by Nero, I would always catch this song when it was halfway through on the radio and always confuse it for 'Slow Acid' by Calvin Harris for some strange reason. Nova Rockafeller is an LA based rapper who I heard randomly on the radio one day, her single 'Made in Gold' has some serious Icona Pop vibes and it's catchy as hell. 'Walk' by Kwabs and 'Can't Stop Playing' (Oliver Heldens & Gregor Salto Remix) by Dr. Kucho! & Gregor Salto are two more awesome radio finds! 'No Fun' by Australian duo The Presets was featured on 'How to Get Away with Murder' (bless whoever makes the shows music decisions, they've all been A+) and it was a song that I haven't heard by them before so I was a little shocked when Shazam broke the news to me. I don't think I will ever stop obsessing over 'Shower' by Becky G, but right now I am loving her new single 'Lovin' So Hard' which is supposedly about Austin Mahone! Another track I heard for the first time on the radio this month is 'Figure 8' by Maliibu N Helene. I haven't been able to get this song out of my head for weeks, it's so catchy! I'm a little mad at myself for not discovering 'Feeling Myself' by Nicki Minaj feat. Beyonce sooner. I was introduced to it by my friends boyfriend one night and it blew my mind. I hear 'Bills' by LunchMoney Lewis  everywhere! But you can't help but smile and dance along to the beat whenever it's on. 'Lean On' is the brand new single from one of my favourite groups Major Lazer and DJ Snake featuring MØ, that I cannot stop listening to, Major Lazer never disappoint. I've added 'Runaway (U and I)' by Galantis to my roadtrip playlist, it's such a fun song to blast in your car! Nutcrackerz is the awesome new track from Dizzee Rascal featuring Giggs which is getting quite a bit of airplay at the moment at work and I don't hate it, I love the sampling of the classic composer Tchaikovsky. The last pick for the playlist this month is 'See You Again' by Wiz Khalifa featuring Charlie Puth, if you're a Fast and Furious fan you would have probably heard this emotional song already, watching the video clip definitely tugs on the heart strings!

SOPHIE

My first pick is 'Should Have Known Better' by Sufjan Stevens, I first heard this song at my boyfriends over the holidays and I instantly fell in love with it. It's so mellow and sweet and just perfect chillaxing music. Next is an old fav, 'Poppin Champagne' by All Time Low. This song is one of my all time favourite ATL songs! Since seeing them last month i've been getting back into listening to them again. Die Antwoord is a bit of a random track for me, but there was something about them after my boyfriend showed me them on YouTube, since then they've been at the back of my mind. 'Baby's On Fire' in particular, it's one of those songs especially if you watched the video first where you're just like WTF! but one that gets stuck in your head. This next one is my FAV song at the mo, and has been on my playlist for the past few months.. Nick Jonas 'Jealous'! I'm so glad 1/3 of the JoBros is back making music, this song is just a perfect car song. I'm loving playing Jessie Ware's new song 'Champagne Kisses' on the jukebox at work. It's that perfect spring to summer song, the song that isn't too in your face but still mellow and just fits the weather so perfectly. 'Sober' by Childish Gambino is an absolute tune and I can't speak more highly for it, the music and the drop mid way is amazing, Donald takes a break from rapping and serenades us with his amazing vocals... and i'm just a massive Childish fan in general! Rihanna 'Pour It Up' is on my playlist this month after rediscovering it and finally getting her album 'Unapologetic' I feel so sassy driving along in the car when this song comes on. Even though my dissertation has been handed in I still have 2 more bits of coursework, so I thought i'd listen to Miley Cyrus' album 'Bangerz' and discovered '#Getalife', which is a bit of a tune if i do say so. Normally i'm not a Bring Me The Horizon fan but was pleasantly surprised that I like their new song 'Drown'. Florence and the Machine are another jukebox fave with me with their new song 'What Kind of Man' (love me a bit of Flo) and 'Recovery' by James Arthur is a song one of my friends played for me which made me remember why I liked James on X-Factor. Kygo 'Stole the Show' and Gwen Stefani's new single 'Baby Don't Lie' round off my half of this months playlist.

KRIZIA

1. Michael Crichton: Jurassic Park
I don't know why it's taken me so long to read the book of my favourite movie. At the moment i only have Jurassic Park and i am loving it, i wasn't expecting it to be so different to the movie. I've read that the Lost World isn't as good, but i might give it a try later on in the year.

2. Nerf Guns
I never understood the appeal of Nerf Guns, until i actually got to play with them. A friend of mine has quite a big collection and i only recently got to have a proper look at his and now i'm obsessed and need all the Nerf Guns!

3. Lip Liners
I've never used lip liners before and there was a huge make up sale the other week so i decided to pick up a few to give them a try. Right now i'm loving the nude colours to make my lips a little bolder. I haven't tried any coloured ones yet because i can't find the right ones to match my lipsticks, but one day!

4. Hair cuts
I hate getting my hair cut, i'd rather cut my own hair and deal with the consequences, rather than getting angry at a stranger. I haven't had my hair professionally trimmed in over a year, so as you can imagine, it was totally fried and gross from all the bleach/dye/heat. I didn't want to cut it until it got past my boobs, and although i was so close to reaching that length i got my hair cut shoulder length. I've been growing my fringe out for months and liked the length that that was, so for the first time in a while i left the salon happy, and it's also the first time my hair isn't layered, so it's a big change for me!

5. Veggies
I was never much of a veggie person, and i definitely didn't eat as much as i was supposed to. For about 2 months now i've cut a lot of things out of my diet and limited my intake of other things (although i've been super bad lately, but that's ok!) and swapped them out for half a plate of vegetables instead. Paired with 2+ litres of water a day and it really does make a difference! When i was being really strict with myself, i had the clearest skin i've had since before puberty hit-which was amazing because i suffer from bad acne and the vegetables also helped with my stomach problems. Healthy eating isn't so bad!

SOPHIE
1. SUMMER IS COMING!
Winter is finally coming to an end! After what seems like an eternity (Winters always seem to last forever in the UK) we are finally seeing sun! We had amazing weather in Amsterdam and it's carrying on in the UK! It makes me so excited for the next couple of months and all the fun summer activities that can be arranged.. and of course all the amazing summer clothes I can start wearing!!

2. Dr. Martens
I've always wanted a pair of plain black Dr. Martens (and a maroon/burgandy pair) but never had the money to fork out the £100 price tag. However being a student Portsmouth can have its perks as we have a Dr. Martens outlet store and my friend informed me that they were selling black ones, so you know I just had to go on down and get myself a pair. However I ended up leaving the store with 2 pairs.. one plain black pair and the other is this soft leather oxblood colour.

3. Game of Thrones
My beloved has returned to me! Game of Thrones has to be my fav show out at the moment so this time every year is always a favourite of mine. After the first four eps got released before the original air date I decided to treat myself to the first two eps as I knew I was gunna be away for the first and be in dissertation stress city for the 2nd one. I tried my best to leave it at that and wait for the eps each week but my will power just wasn't strong enough and I caved and watched the remaining two.. I have zero regrets!

4. New Camera
After attempting my first vlogging venture in Amsterdam and putting the video together I realised I had really enjoyed creating it. So much so that i'm thinking of giving vlogging a go a bit more. So I felt it was only right that I look into buying a new camera to help on this venture. Not only that but i'm going away to Croatia for a week in June and as much as I love taking photos on my iPhone I wouldn't mind having a device that had a better zoom and image quality, on top of that i'm interested in getting back into photography when i graduate and become a proper adult.

5. Handing in my Dissertation
The past few weeks have been a living hell with me getting incredibly ill resulting in me losing a valuable week of working on my diss (as all I could do was sleep). I didn't make it to 10,000 word mark but I wasn't far off (9,300 was the final main body word count). After having on tantrum and emotional breakdown (in which the boyf was witness too) I finally finished on the 22nd April, printed and bound on the 23rd and handed it in at 2pm that day! It was a bitter sweet feeling, mixed emotions would defo be the word to describe it. Now it's the waiting game to find out what fate lies for all my hardwork!

What are some of your favourite things this month?

KRIZIA
1. One Direction
Since Zayn's departure last week i've found myself being more obsessed with 1D than before. I don't think i could love them as a foursome as much as i love the five of them together, but i'm excited to see how they go. Hopefully they can get at least one more album out before they completely decide to give up.

2. TopShop
TopShop NZ has been open for almost 3 weeks now and although i didn't like a majority of the clothes in store in the opening week (all the things i wanted sold out on the opening day), i'm loving the weekly new styles that are coming in not that far behind what's out in store in the U.K. I've managed to grab myself a long green coat that i've had my eyes on for a while, and a cute pastel pink button up shirt because i never wear pastel, and i don't own a lot of pink, so i love that it's something different.

3. Netflix
Netflix has finally launched down under, and although there were ways for us to use the service beforehand, it's nice to have it officially here. It is of course, no where near as amazing as U.S Netflix but it's still a hell of a lot better than other sites like Quickflix, and even Sky Movies. I'm loving the Twilight Zone at the moment.

4. Black Boots
I got these black platform boots from Wild Pair at the start of the month and they haven't left my feet since. I've been saving them on my wishlist for a couple of months hoping they would be reduced in price, but as soon as i got a Westfield gift voucher for my birthday, i went straight to the mall to buy me a pair. They are so comfortable and give me the perfect amount of height. I also love that i can wear them casually or if i'm going out.

5. Coconut Milk
I had never tried coconut milk until recently, and i'm not sure why since i love anything to do with coconuts. But it is SO good. I don't drink much milk to begin with nowadays, but if i find myself needing some for cereal or a hot drink i'll use this stuff instead. If you want to try it out, it's best to go unsweetened/lite!

SOPHIE
1. Vicks Vaporub
This is seriously my kryptonite! There's something about the smell that is like catnip to me. It's gotten to the stage that if i'm feeling stressed all I have to do is take a good inhale or strategically place some near my nostrils and I'm good to go! It's even become a joke that it's my drug of choice with my housemates!

2. Uni Friends
Dissertation madness/ stress has truly set in! I have just under a month till I have to hand my 10,000 word thesis in on my chosen topic. This whole month I've pretty much spent the whole time in the library and if it wasn't for my friends I think I would have lost my mind by now! Also a special shout out to my partner in blogging Krizia for holding down the blog during the times I wasn't able to!

3. Water Filter Jug
A couple months ago I purchased a water filter jug from ASDA and I literally haven't looked back! I fill it up everyday and keep it in my room (my uni house is is like an ice palace), it's really been helpful the past couple of days when i've been ill, as it has meant I don't have to keep getting up to get multiple glasses of water.

4. Almond Milk
Like Krizia, I haven't been drinking as much cow's milk as I used too of late. Infact it's maybe been 4 months since I stopped drinking cow's milk. So in this time i've been testing every now and then replacements, first was soya, which I don't mind but wasn't too keen on the taste alone. My sister then recommended Almond Milk. At first I was tad nervous but one afternoon I took the plunge and tried it and I actually really enjoyed it. The taste alone, just tastes like watery milk with a slight hint of almonds, but nothing too overpowering. I think I opted for the unsweetened one. After seeing Kriz talk about Coconut Milk i'm tempted to try that one out as well and see what I think!

5. Netflix
I've fallen ill of late, like bed bound ill so Netflix has been my saving grace! Whilst in between naps and keeping properly hydrated I've been turning to Netflix to keep me sane! I'm currently reliving my childhood by watching Digimon. As well being able to watch Buffy The Vampire Slayer for the first time! And don't forgot the captivating political drama House of Cards!

1. Instax Mini 8
I've wanted a polaroid camera since i was little but i never got round to purchasing one. When i came back home from my travels, i pointed out how cute the Instax Mini's were to my parents but never mentioned them again. They ended up getting me a pink one for my birthday and it SO cute! It's a  shame the film is so expensive though, makes me not want to use it as much.

2. ASOS shoes
I used to have a gold and black pair like these (minus the studs) from River Island, but they got so scratched and uncomfortable i had to chuck them out. I had a hard time trying to find another pair in the same style, then i got an ASOS birthday code, so of course i spent the next few hours browsing the site for things to buy. The second i saw these bad boys i knew i had to have them! and luckily i got one of the last few pairs in my size. They are so amazing in real life, super comfy, and so me!

3. Boxing
I've recently taken up boxing, it's something i've always wanted try out but was too lazy to actually give it a go. I ached for days afterwards but it's so fun! and a great way for relieving stress.

4. & 5. Shirt dresses
I'm so into shirt dresses right now! I've been patiently waiting for these two to come back in stock and i'm so in love with them. I love that they're simple enough for casual wear, but you can also glam them up to wear on a night out.

KRIZIA

1. Sam Smith
Sam Smith is one of my favourite singers right now and he's playing two sold out shows in Auckland next year and I managed to score two tickets to go see him. I'm super excited for the show, he's someone i've wanted to see live for a while now.

2. Inniu Tracker Boots
I've wanted a pair of Timberlands for ages but never wanted to spend $300+ for them so I went on the hunt for a good pair of knock offs. I found these for $89 at my trusty favourite shop Wildpair. They're great quality, exactly like Timberlands, but less than half the price!

3. GoPro Hero 4 Silver
I was getting really sick of how bulky my DSLR was so I looked into changing my camera. Since I was already interested in a GoPro I thought it was the perfect time to sell the DSLR and go for the Hero 4 Silver. It has the same Mega Pixels as my DSLR did and does basically the same thing but it's less than the size of my hand. I LOVE it! can't wait to use it when i travel, I'm also looking into diving so i can film underwater.

4. Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones
These headphones have been glued to my head for the past few days! I love being in my own world when i'm listening to music so these are amazing for me. I've always wanted Beats but the reviews were never good, and if you're going to spend a lot of money on headphones you're going to want them to do a good job.

5. MAC Pro Longwear Foundation
This was my first MAC purchase ever and for $70 it might be my last BUT i just had to try one of their foundations. I have very oily skin and after reading a few blogs a majority of the bloggers recommended Pro Longwear for oily skin. I was surprised that it really does work, i get a few hours of looking fresh faced rather than getting oily 30 minutes after putting on makeup. It's pricey but i definitely recommend it!

SOPHIE

1. Simpsons Tapped Out
This is currently my most used app (aside from my social media apps of course), there's just something about this game that keeps me coming back and earning money (for the game to complete quests). The basic outline of the game is that Homer has blown up the springfield you know and love however Professor Frink has managed to find a parallel universe and it's up to you to rebuild it.

2. Missguided Boots
These are my favourite pair of shoes at the moment. They're comfortable, stylish and the heel gives a bit of height but not high enough to be uncomfortable if I was to wear them the whole day. They had previously sold out but when I found out they had come back in stock I was quick purchase these and I haven't regretted it at all!

3. Brooklyn Nine Nine
Over the Christmas break i've had a lot of free time on my hands and to help with my procrastination of not working on my dissertation I turned to Netflix and the hit T.V. show Brooklyn Nine Nine. I love this comedy show starring Andy Samberg and Terry Crewes about the 99 Precinct in Brooklyn and the hijinks they get up too.

4. Bleach London Hair Dye
In my 27 years of living I've had many different hair colours but have never felt truly happy until I had pink/lavender hair and then being blonde as a close 2nd. What with uni coming to an end soon and me having to get a real job soon, I thought i'd go back to being blonde, but before that has to happen I thought i'd enjoy having a bit of freedom with colour first. Bleach London is a semi permanent hair dye colourant that I use to achieve these unnatural colours I love.. I may do a blog post in the new year about them.

5. Instax Mini 8
For christmas my boyfriend got me a white Instax Mini 8 and I absolutely LOVE it! I've wanted on for ages and was meant to get one for my birthday but as he was still finding a job he surprised me and got it for me for Christmas. I can't wait to take more pics with it in the new year!

KRIZIA
1. & 2. Black Docs and Sequin Stance Socks
After my black rubber Docs split i didn't know if I wanted a classic leather pair again because I didn't take good care of my other leather ones. I caved in though once I saw them at work, but it's a shame they don't look nice and smooth like they do in the photo anymore. I LOVE these sequin Stance socks! It was a toss up between these silver ones and black ones but I just loved the way the silver pair sparkled under light.

3. Interstellar
I'm obsessed with anything to do with space so once I found out Christopher Nolan (the man behind some of my favourite movies: the Batman trilogy and Inception) directed this movie I had to watch it, and just like Inception I was left with a million questions and a very sore head. If you haven't watched it yet I definitely recommend it, but be prepared with lots of snacks and maybe bring a cushion because you're going to be sitting down for three hours.

4. Giant Mugs
I love a nice giant mug even though I can barely finish my tea 90% of the time. I randomly stumbled upon this amazing mug a few weeks ago in a gift shop and I had to have it because it combines my two favourite things, Dinosaurs/Jurassic Park and tea!

5. Rimmel London Kate Moss Lipstick
I've been trying to find a good pink lipstick that suits my skin colour for a long time. I was looking around a makeup outlet store when i came across the Kate Moss range. I couldn't decide which pink to take so because they were half price I picked the 106, a dark pink and 20, a lighter pink. It's taken me a while to get used to the 20 because I never wear light coloured lipsticks but i'm warming up to it!

SOPHIE

1. Carebear Pyjama's
I came across these in Primark and just had to get them! I'm really loving the jogger/legging style pyjama bottoms at the mo. The top is super comfy and keeps me hella warm that sometimes I wish I could wear it everywhere!

2. One Direction "Four"
My love for this band continues to grow, I couldn't wait to hear their new album when 'Fireproof' was released and they did not disappoint! I can't stop playing the album and boogeying along to it in my head when I'm walking down the street. Absolutely loving their new style!!!

3. My Birthday
It can't be a monthly favourites without mentioning my birthday! I love my birthday because it's the only day of the year I can truly justify that the day is all about me. I had a blast bringing in my 27th year with my boyfriend and a few close friends. Although I fear as I'm getting older the hangovers are getting worse haha.

4. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1
I've been waiting all year for this film and it finally came. The movie was beyond spectacular and I could have easily sat there for another 3 hrs watching the second part. Since Harry Potter finished Hunger Games has filled this spot. I'm a big fan of the books and was happy they kept to the storyline, but the small things they did add helped make the film what it is.

5. Gig Tickets
This month as been a gig buying frenzy! So many great artists have announced their going on tour. This month I've managed to get tickets for Charli XCX, Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran. Next year is shaping up to be a pretty music filled year!
