X Factor: Live Show 9 Semi Final
Posted on Monday, 8 December 2014
This week saw the semi finals in X Factor, which means one more week and then X Factor will be over for another year :(
Find out below how the contestants got on singing Christmas classics and their last chance plea song to get them to the finals!!
OVERS:
Fleur
Fleur's All I Want For Christmas was a bit average this week and a tad cliche. We felt like she was singing too slow and not in time at some points, we agreed with Mel about needing to make it a bit more cooler.
OH MY LORD! Uptown Funk was a last minute change and a bit of a risk as the song isn't released in the UK for another few weeks, (although it's currently a chart banger in NZ and is one of Krizia's fave songs atm) but my god it paid off. This is such a Fleur song and she stole the WHOLE show with this and was our fav performance of the night!
Ben
Please Come Home For Christmas by The Eagles was Ben's first song. This is one of LGC's favourite Christmas songs but we felt he lacked a bit of passion in the song, making it a tad bland. We loved his voice but it just needed that little bit extra oomph to make it amazing!
Hallelujah was the second song and here at LGC we are spilt on this performance. Controversial but Sophie doesn't actually like this Jeff Buckley classic but enjoyed Ben's spin on it where as Krizia loves this song but wasn't completely sold on Simon's song choice.
BOYS:
Andrea
O Holy Night is another one of our favourite Christmas songs and Andrea was incredible! This performance made us feel all emotional inside and he was definitely the winner of round one.
We didn't know what to think of Andrea's second song choice Wrecking Ball . LGC love the song but we didn't think it was right for him, he did however sing it well and very passionately, which we love. The second half of the song was much better then the first half.
GIRLS:
Lauren
Lauren's first performance of the night was Stay Another Day and although it was good, it wasn't great. We thought some parts were a wee bit too low for her vocal range and she seemed to struggle. We loved her outfit, she looked like a Christmas angel but it's a shame about the song!
The second song of the night was Story Of My Life by the biggest boy band in the world. We loved the pictures of Lauren in the background from various moments in her life, but we didn't feel like she sung it well. She was definitely lacking something, maybe a bit of passion in her voice. Overall we felt like she was the weakest out of all the contestants.
Ben and Fleur made it safely to the final this weekend which saw Lauren and Andrea in the sing off. Two of the popular and talented singers in the competition singing against each other meant the decision was not going to be easy. Andrea sung Who You Are which we agreed with Simon when he said was a bit over sung. Lauren sung There You'll Be (a favourite of ours!). Unfortunately for Lauren her performance was not good enough to get her through to the top 3. Andrea was the better vocalist overall so we're happy that he got through! Lauren's young and being on the show will open her up to a lot of opportunities so we're sure we'll see her again in the future!
Who do you think will win the X Factor 2014?
S. & K.
