X Factor: Live Show 6
Posted on Monday, 17 November 2014
This week X-Factor transported us back to when flapper dresses where the norm and jazz was all around us. Find out below how well the contestants did with a 30-piece big band backing them up!
GIRLS:
Lauren
Lauren was back this week, looking stunning in her long gown and sounding better than ever! She sat on a swing throughout the entire performance of 'Smile' which we agreed with Simon when he said it was a tad boring, but we did like the simpleness of it and thought it suited the song.

OVERS:
Ben
We here at LGC LOVED LOVED LOVED Ben's performance this week. Not a song we would have pictured him singing but it worked and he's fast becoming a fave for us. We loved the grittiness he bought to this classic big band song, and those end notes...WOWZA!

Fleur
Fleur's performance this week had us scratching our heads and wondering whether or not we liked it. We loved everything else about the performance but we just can't tell if we liked the twist on the chart topping song "Bang Bang", after wowing us at Judges houses with this song we've been left slightly deflated with this version.

Stevi
Classic Stevi bought it BIG with his performance but we can't help but wonder if all this energy usage is finally catching up with him. This week we didn't feel as much energy and felt he was tiring himself out rather quickly. Perhaps the end of the road for Stevi is nigh?

Jay
We loved the opening of Jay's song this week, a slow down beautiful version of "Empire State of Mind" however we agree with some of the judges comments that his performance of Sinatra's "New York" was a tad karaoke in some parts. Hats off to Jay though for holding those end notes.

BOYS:
Andrea
We unlike the other judges agree with Simon that Andrea lacked passion this week, his vocals were on point as they always are but there was something lacking this week... song choice maybe? We're hoping this is just a one off thing and that Andrea goes back to wowing us next week!

GROUPS:
Only The Young
There was a slight change up with lead vocals tonight as one of the boys took charge, and it wasn't too bad. The group are fun, we admit it, but obviously LGC are not the market that Only The Young are catering too so we find their cheesyness really annoying, like super super annoying. Their performance just reminded us of drunk friends who get up on stage and think they can sing.

Stereo Kicks:
The boys were looking super fine in their suits on saturday night and for only having less than 24 hours to rehearse they delivered! We only heard a snippet of their old song choice 'Mirrors' by Justin Timberlake but it was enough to hear that it just wasn't working and even though only two of the boys knew their new song 'Mack the Knife' it ending up being a good risk to take. Kudos to the boys carrying on even when James' mic cut off mid note. The solos were sounding even better this week and overall it was one of the boys best performances to date.

ELIMINATED
What we thought was going to be an easy elimination turned out to be quite a shocker! Jay James found himself in the bottom two again with Stevi. We were quite certain that Stevi's time was finally up, but we were wrong. After singing a rather disappointing version of 'Somewhere Only We Know' Jay was overshadowed by Stevi's Queen performance. The judges were quick to express how Jay was the better singer of the two but Stevi was the better performer and mentor Simon, and Louis opted to send Stevi home. The biggest surprise was Mel's decision to save Stevi, even though in the past few weeks she's made it no secret that she's not a fan she thought he sung better than Jay! which was followed by Cheryl also voting to save Stevi as he was the better entertainer. The split vote meant deadlock where it was revealed that Jay had the least amount of votes.
What did you think of last nights elimination? Are you hoping to see Stevi go once and for all next week?
